Are tennis shoes a "No-no" when riding on the back of a Harley? Would you suggest black boots, black shoes, or does it matter?

tennis shoes are a no no on any bike, as are flip flops, moccasins etc. You need to wear a shoe or better yet, a boot that is designed to protect your foot. This is the sole purpose of heavy leather "biker boots". It may have been turned into a fashion statement by yuppies and wanna be's, but a "biker" wears the boot because he learned the hard way, that asphalt is very unforgiving and you need good protection for your feet while riding. Also, trying to kick start a motorcycle with a high compression engine in "tennis" shoes is just plain painfull. "kickback" can break your foot or ankle if not wearing a good leather boot.
Lastly, think of this, your riding on the bike of a motorcyle, for whatever reason, the bike is hit by a car, or the driver misses a turn and the bike is laid over on it's side at 45mph with your foot and leg trapped between it and the asphalt as you slide down the road until it grinds to a stop. Would you rather pull out a chunk of ground up hamburger meat clad in the remnants of your stylish short pants and tennis shoes instead of your leg? or would you rather pull out your whole leg and foot clad in leather boots and heavy leather or even heavy denim pants? Remember, there are only two types of riders in the end. Those who have been knocked down, and those who are going to be knocked down. The ones who have already been knocked down, are the ones in the heavy leather boots, chaps, gloves etc. Tho ones who haven't, are the ones in tennis shoes, short pants, tshirts, flip flops etc.
Ride safe

That will depend on the age of the women. Never met many young chicks that were in to Harley's although there are a few. Also not many older women are impressed with sport bikes, again there are always exceptions. Personally if I need a motorcycle to get her attention I'm not interested. It really comes down to this and I'm sure the women will back me up on this, no girl is going to like you because you ride any motorcycle. If she likes you she may go on about how much she likes your bike, but that is just a way for her to flirt. She really doesn't give a crap what you ride or drive.

Wear boots. Some people wear tennies but I think they're nuts. I went sideways and skidded on the side of my boot. If I hadn't had them on my ankle would have been a mess. Not to mention the possibility of exhaust pipe burns! Anytime you ride a bike the more protection you have the safer you will be. Road rashes are not fun. I've ridden for 40 years and wouldn't ride without leathers and a helmet (not a bean pot, either!). Keep the shiny side up!!

Boots that offer ankle protection are best. Dress for the crash, not the ride. You're also going to need a full face helmet with a real DOT sticker and a "snell rating." You should also have an armored leather jacket.

Make sure your helmet color matches the paint of the bike.

You can wear lace up ballet pumps, or even go barefoot if you like, it doesn't matter.

Until you fall off.

Then you'll be *really* glad you're wearing proper boots with foot and ankle protection. They don't have to be specific M/C boots, high padded ankled steel toe-cap workman's boots will be fine and a lot cheaper if you're just trying this out before you get serious.

Tennis shoes are a no-no for any bike. That is unless you want to burn your legs on the pipes. I personally wear boots. Get them at a fairly decent price at swap meets.

You should never wear tennis shoes on any bike. It doesn't matter what kind of bike you should always wear good leather boots to protect your ankles and feet incase you go down.

SHOES? You must be joking. Have you ever been to an A & E unit and seen the results of NOT wearing proper biking gear???? It only takes about 3 secs. to wipe out ankle and knee joints at 30mph. All the tendons will be shredded like spaghetti, the bone will be rubbed out and/or smashed. You will probably end up in a wheel chair minus a leg/foot. Be safe out there

I'd suggest the highest boots (for maximum leg protection), with at least some heel to dig into the foot peg with so your foot doesn't slip off.
Color doesn't matter, 'cept maybe to Martha Steward.
