Sadly, NO cold medication. The FDA came out a few months ago and recommended that infants do not take over the counter cold medications as there were reports of children dying as a terrible side effect.

What you can do is:
* Turn on the humidifier
* Take her into the shower or bathroom to loosen her congestion
* Elevate her mattress a little, underneath, to let the fluids drain away from her head
* Use a bulb syringe/aspirator to try to suck out a little of the mucous, don't over do it or it can make the problem worse.
* Use the bulb syringe to shoot a little warm saline up her nose to clear out the passages, I only do this when it's time to nurse since it's hard for them to eat and breath with a stuffy nose.

If she's running a fever or is particularly bothered, you can give her Tylenol or Ibuprofen, call the nurse at your doctor's office for the right dose.

8 Month Old Baby Congested

My son just turned a year old and I hate giving him any medicine. However, as a parent, I hate seeing him sick. I put a humidifier in his room and I rub Vicks Baby Rub on his back, chest and neck while he sleeps and when it is really bad periodically during the day. I have heard of the Vapor Bath by Johnson & Johnson, I have never been lucky enough to find it (in stock), but the doctor recommended it to me. If this doesn't work, I would suggest calling the doctor to see the dose (depending on age and weight) give her some Baby Cough Syrup, like the kind from Toys R Us or Tylenol Sinus and Cough ... they never recommend a dosage on the label for children under 2 ... good luck ... hope your little one feels better :)

If she is congested she needs a cold and flu type medicine like Demazin / Dimetapp / Paedemin / Robitussin that will help dry up the mucus. Be sure to check with the chemist about age restrictions of these types of medicines. Try using a vapouriser as well in her room and put some vicks vapour rub or euky-bear rub for babies or Vicks baby balsalm on her chest to inhale the smell of eucalyptus. You can buy nasal aspirators to suck any snot from her nose (fess little noses).

Take her to the doctor or chemist and they can give you the best course of treatment

Sorry I dont mean to be rude but take her to the Doc. I dont know why anybody would ask a question like that. What if you take some ones advice on here then she had a reaction to what some stanger told you to give her? How do you know who you can trust on here. Come on now we have a lot of fun here but not when it somes to your kid.. Get real..

You should consult a doctor before you give it any medication.
