Some people call it relative. I call it impossible. Say it as if you were writing your own encyclopedia.

The inherent mental capability to cover that extra depth beyond the normal or obvious.

In my view, even when it is in respect of art or skill, the genius arises from the mental capability behind the physical manifestation of the art or skill.

To me, a real genius is someone who can take their mind beyond what is known and understood, and delve into the chaos of the unknown then come back with something new. It has been said too that theres a psycho in every genius, and I feel this is true also. Psychotics can lose their minds into this realm of the unknown, into a world of chaos, and may not bring anything back from it or bring back something that just isnt correct. But the genius can go into this and then communicate back something that somehow makes sense to everyone else. Haha im exhausted today, I hope what I wrote makes some degree of sense.

I don't have time to give a "prose" answer... but here goes.

IQ has been typically defined from the standpoint of the field of psychology. These days Cognitive Science is considered a distinct disiple though it does overlap psychology.

A professor of mine has a PhD in Psychology and also has a very high IQ. He believes genius is defined as those who have an IQ of 140 or above, this is just above the gifted range, and I think something like 160 or 165 and above is considered super genius. And he believes that a person with a 140 IQ has a photographic memory, though I believe this is relative.

There are two other considerations I can think of. 1. There are over 100 specialized intellectual abilities, 2. intelligence is not restricted to mental abilities, some people are smarter in areas of movment, dance, coordination, etc... and there are other kinds of intelligence such as social which is usually not measured in tests, musical ability etc... (so point 1 and 2 hear are closely related regarding how to define intelligence).

Also I believe there are various way in which people can mature, and that should be taken into account in intelligence also.

It is also believed that the most one can increase their IQ in a life time is about 2 points, and that idential twins can only differ in IQ by 2 points. But I knew a pair of idential twins and one claimed his brother's IQ was much higher than his, he thought like 10 points higher. So I don't know. I believe that my IQ has increased by may be 5 points, but I am not qualified to be sure of that. But some other areas of my abilities have been neglected.

Yet IQ should be a measure of potential or ability.

For those who can not take care of themselves or communicate it is believed they have at least an IQ of 20 but that it just can not be measured.

There have been a few to claim to have an IQ above 203 but I do not think we can be sure that anyone can have an IQ above that number, note we are measuring potential or ability, not quantifying how much knowledge has been attained, so I think 203 is the highest until we find a scientific way to suggest otherwise. My professors father had an IQ of 203 and the things he could do could hardly be believed.

The function of mind is the analysis of causality. We observe the flow of events, and look for patterns that will allow us to predict and direct the future.

The minds that do this exceptionally well, are called genius.

They are the ones who can best CREATE the future, hence the variant of the word genesis.

Genius is relative. It can't exist unless there is a cross section of normalcy to compare such a "heightened intellect" to. It's ultimately a misleading label used to bolster self esteem, and bandied about by people who wished they were geniuses.
And loathed by those who are.
