Not possible! A slave knows only the wishes of their master, and doesn't know freedom or happiness or anything! A free man knows anything they wish to learn so being unhappy is their own fault!!

One must find the balance between freedom and prosperity.

We all give up some personal freedom for the prosperity society has to offer. In general I think happiness finds those who lean toward the maximization of freedom.

Still, as a Darwinist I see the point of existence to be the passing on of ones genes. To be a slave is to lose direct control of this process, so ultimately I'd have to go with unhappy free man.

Its better to be happy than to be unhappy.
Even if it means being a slave, why not? The fact that you're happy means something within you is being satisfied.
