quoted from wiki: The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, or the Causeway, consists of two parallel bridges that are the longest bridges in the world by total length.[2] These parallel bridges cross Lake Pontchartrain in southern Louisiana. The longer of the two bridges is 23.87 miles (38.42 km) long. The bridges are supported by over 9,000 concrete pilings. The two bridges feature bascule spans over the navigation channel 8 miles (13 km) south of the north shore. The southern terminus of the Causeway is in Metairie, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans. The northern terminus is at Mandeville, Louisiana.

Hi,
According to "The Independent," China is currently building what will be the world's longest bridge.
"The Hangzhou Bay Bridge will span 36 kilometres across the East China Sea." To give you an idea of how long that it is, if the bridge was transfered to the straights of Dover, it could connect France to England.
I also found a list of the world's longest suspension bridges as well as an article on the world's longest covered bridge. All links are below.

Welcome to the official site of the Greater New Orleans Expressway Commission (GNOEC).
Each weekday over 42,000 cars cross Lake Pontchartrain on the longest bridge in the world, The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway. The five-member GNOEC is the controlling body of the Causeway which includes the bridge system and the Causeway Approach road system on the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain.

Here's an article that claims it is the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge in southern Japan. However, there are different kinds of bridges. This is supposed to be the longest suspension bridge.

the above two answers are both correct. there are different types of bridges. Both of those given are the longest for there types. I also believe you might find an interstate bridge in Florida to be on the list also.
