I don't get what makes certain nightlife better than others. I lived in a town of 250,000 people, and there was plenty enough bars and clubs that a person could go to. I don't understand why people say places like Madrid or Prague have such great nightlife? What's the difference? Is it the promiscuity of the women? The cheapness of the drinks? I wouldn't figure it would be music, as most play the same stuff. What is it?

As you can tell, I'm a bit naive, but any answers would be greatly appreciated

Some towns and some parts of cities have a social atmosphere that continues long after the dinner crowd goes home from the restaurants and the sports bar guys stagger away. It is not drunken or promiscuous or brawling but like a good party where every one is having a good time. Some places the bars/nghtclubs are too far apart, the crowd is too abusive, the mix of b/n is not right, the city fathers too uptight and they don't have a "good nightlife"

I dont' know exactly. I guess it has to do with something like a bunch of bars, clubs, restaurants within walking distance of each other that you can hop around conveniently. The promiscuity of the women too I guess.
