how did numerical superstitions evolve? why are certain numbers so important to us psychologically?

The underlying premise is same as is for Zodiac signs,lines on the hand,Omens ,face reading and what not.Partly based on observation and partly through innovative skills of humans,numerology came in to being as a subject.Fadic and birth numbers,significance of single and multi digit numbers were evolved,lucky numbers were worked on some assumptions and what not. In all such attempts,the basic idea is the human anxiety and desire to know future. Where It works,it's primarily due to belief and auto suggestion.Other wise,it has not relevance for a rational human being.

Two reasons, superstition and pattern. It would be hard to argue the validity of superstitous belief when it comes to numbers. Fri the 13th is ALWAYS bad in my line of work. My cousins birthday is 11-22-77 and she always wins in atlantic city, like a couple grand every time she goes. Then people have thier own weird number connections. A number that pops up all the time for them, which come to think of it thats probably how it evolved, people realized significance of events and numbers, and certain superstitions stuck to the numbers they were linked too through time.

they said the numbers are quite important. for ex, u need to know ur birthday date to know urself. there are so many believes that ur characters are depends on when did u born, at what date, as what child (1st,2nd, etc), as what zodiac or chinese sign, and some people (like chinese) do believe in the lucky numbers (e.g 9) or bad numbers (e.g 13).
