Because there are no 'green' skies what he is saying is this:

Do I want the world as I chose to see it or as everyone else sees it?

This quote was probably from an artist or writer or visionary philosopher.

do i want a small piece of mind right now, time to feel good and safe for just a second, or do i want to deal with everything right now? green skies mean a storm is coming, but the sun is out so its nice and pretty for now, even though its going to hail soon. the whole world is taking the good with the bad and dealing with it all at once. so the question is asking, should i have some time to myself now and deal with all my problems later when theyre worse, or should i just deal with everything, taking the good and the bad together.

Do I want to this for me or depend on what they think is best for me?

The sun and green skies is a want for self while the whole world is everything else.

This is a question of a confused person trying to establish his/her own identity...
...a person who knows specifically what he wants but still opts to do things in accordance to what is generally accepted by society regardless of personal satisfaction...
