22.47 -17.58 =
if these represent times (in 24 hour format) rather than simple decimal numbers, then the answer is: 4.49
(if ordinary decimal numbers then answer is 4.89)
this you can do in your head: add 2 minutes to both times so that you now have
22.49 - 18.00 and you can easily subtract 18 from 22 and get 4, and of course 49 minutes minus 0 is 49
hence 4.49
this method keeps you from getting confused over borrowing 1 hour and converting it to 60 minutes
1.12am - 11.50am
since 1.12 is the next day, add 24 hours to it before performing the subtraction
25.12 - 11.50 = 13.22
do this in your head similarly to the last problem: add 10 minutes to each time: 25.22 - 12.00 = 13.22

22.47 = 10:47 pm (22-12=10)
17.58 = 5:58 pm (17-12=5)
4.89 = 5:29am the same day
89-60= 29
