My fellow republicans,
Last night I kissed a man named Terry and I learned something. We are wrong about gays. I was wrong and I taught my boy wrong. It turns out that being gay is not a choice. Trust me I tried and it did'nt work.

The members of the Log Cabin Republicans did'nt choose to be gay but they did choose to be republican. Even though we used bashing them as the backbone of our last presidential election they're still sticking with us. My God, these people love America as much as they love brunch.

You know what else is a choice? Being a democrat. Democrats weren't born democrats they chose to be democrats.

Do you want manufacturers of super tight t shirts to go out of business? Would you foresake Plato and Socrates?

I'm not telling you to stop hating. I just want you to hate where hate deserves. Hate we're using on the gays is hate we could be using on the democrats. We should'nt discriminate against gays we should get more of them to be Republican.

How about we don't hate at all? Weather it be towards somebody that is homosexual or somebody that is a democrat. It's all opinions. And no opinion is wrong. So you can't hate democrat's just because they think differently then you do.

Ronald Reagan, who used to be a member of the Democratic Party, said "I didn't leave the Democratic Party. The party left me."

Some former Republicans can now say "I didn't leave the Republican Party, The party left me." because Republicans who used to support less government now want to use governmental powers to deny rights to gay and lesbian individuals.

Barry Goldwater, a Republican, said "You don't have to be straight to be in the military; you just have to be able to shoot straight."

Republicans who share his views are too few and far between to make a difference in the current political atmosphere where Republicans define themselves on how much they dislike gay people.

Are you aware that is the most bizarre statement ever? I cant even begin to follow the logic here. I know being gay isnt a choice. I am a lesbian. I am one of those people who always take the easy safe route. Do you think if being gay was a choice that i would have chosen to become a lesbian. I am happy to be, i have accepted it, i am at peace, but i would have NEVER chosen it. Way to many hurdles and obstacles.

YES, being whatever you are is a choice that you make because you want to be that way, or speak that way, etc. When God created the human race he gave us the power of free will. Here is a scripture that proves that point:

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (9) What! Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, (10) nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom. (11) And yet that is what some of YOU were. But YOU have been washed clean, but YOU have been sanctified, but YOU have been declared righteous in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and with the spirit of our God.

Notice verse 11 .... "that is what some of you were."

God does not want anyone to die, but to repent and follow his righteous standards:

2 Peter 3:9 God is not slow respecting his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with YOU because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance.

Everyone has a choice, just make the right ones.

Yes, I know it is not a choice, just as being straight is not a choice. It is just how we are made!
I can do without the super tight t-shirts, tho- being a bit overweight myself! LOL
Oh, but I am a Democrat- by choice. Liberal, blue collar, pro-choice and love my fellow man or woman for who they are.
And I love America and what it stands for.

Thanks for the thought provoking and well articulated question!
