I think Arod stays in NY to try and build a legendary type status which I think he will realize is more important than playing for $ which he already has done with Texas. If he opts out, I honestly doubt he will, it's either going to be Anaheim or the Cubs.
To Copenhagen: it's a good thing you're not a scout or General Manager, because you clearly have no clue what good pitching looks like. Hughes was rated as THE BEST pitcher in all of the minor leagues while your "studs" were in t he minor leagues. Kennedy put up even better numbers this year. And right now Verlander is the only solid pitcher in your organization.
To any fan that says Arod can play his original position with "us" is just not up to date. Arod wanted to play 3rd so he can follow his childhood idol Cal Ripken Jr.

Beef hit the nail on the head
He'll be in Motown cuz we'll let him play shortstop and our fans will actually cheer for him
We only boo Jason Grilli (and Bobby Higginson)
Illitch isn't afraid to throw dollars around and since the NHL went to a salary cap he's taken all the cash he was spending on the Wings and started spending it on the Tigers. Anyone remember when the Red Wings were "The New York Yankees of the National Hockey League?"
And oh yeah, his best chance at a ring is with a team that actually has a decent pitching staff and the Tigers have 4 future all-stars/possibly future Cy Young winners in Verlander, Bonderman, Miller, and Porcello. The Yankees have Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte. And I'd take Porcello, Jurrjens, or Miller over Hughes or Kennedy any day
And if he went to Detroit the Tigers offense would be 10 times better than the Yankees'

No way he's a Yankmee next year. While he will look for a max payday, the man wants a ring. He sees the Yankmees aren't in position to do it, so he will opt out. He will be the LA Angels 3rd baseman next year. The owner will pay for him. The Angels are already the powerhouse team, but that would make them unstoppable. They could use a power bat other than Guerrero.

Since the yankees already broke their usual terms and tried to discuss contract terms with arod during the season, which arod and boras said no to, expect for them to make a strong bid to keep him.
Obviously the yankees can offer him the most money and probably give him the best shot to win a title every year, which he claims is the most important to him.
The only other team i would expect to see him with would be the cubs to reunite him with Pinella. just are the cubs willing to spend the money?
Now keep in mind that just because he CAN opt out this year does not mean he will.

I think so. The Yankees will pay whatever he wants. Also A. rod wants to have a team to call home as opposed to just floating from team to team. He wants a legacy, and what better team for a legacy then the Yankees?

If Steinbrenner does not open his wallet wider,A-Rod will go for a potential World Series team-if he does,he's a Yankee for life!-sorry Tiger fans,I don't think Mike Illitch wants to spend that kind of extra dough--athough that pizza is making alot! It would be an awesome infield! Inge,A-Rod,Polanco and Guillen!-Wow!

if the yankees win the world series, i think he will leave and try to get more money from another team. he will have some leverage saying that he helped the yanks win the world series. if he leaves, i can see him going to aneheim because art moreno is willing to spend for a winner.

Who else could afford him? I don't believe he would go to Boston, I'll believe it when I see it. The only other teaa that have the money is is L.A. and Boston. It is not L.A.'s style to pay that much and I think AROD would have some loyalty to the Yanks not to mention Varitek tried to rip his head off. I would say it is almost 905 chance he returns to NY.

I'll say this: If the Yanks win the World Series this season he is as good as gone. He won't want to tolerate how difficult it is to play in New York anymore if they win it all this year.
