I am an Independent Democratic-Republican Green Libertarian. That be saying said it all depends on the specific issue.

Er ... none of thee above. I lean toward both and all three parties some times. My political standing varies by subject. Lets take some obvious stand out issues as examples.

Abortion, very much republican but I also believe that if the womans life is in literal danger to carry the child then it is understandable although tough. Democrats say legalize it, it's the womans choice. Republicans call it murder to abort an unborn baby and would choose to classify it as illegal. I feel that if you choose to have sex and create a life then you should have to work it out without harming the life that is the bi product of your actions. That being said, some women are put in physical danger of death if they carry a child. Ectopic pregnancies can easily kill a woman if she carries through with the pregnancy. These are when the fetus forms in her tubes and causes a massive blood loss hemerage upon giving birth. Some can even go out side of the womb and injure other organs if she lives. Most are aborted if noticed. That is where I understand, no womans life is worth not aborting.

Another issue at hand is immigration. I'm far more Democratic when it comes to this, setting up a five year plan making those wishing to live here legally go through it within the time and offering government aid in the form of a loan if needed. The republican party wants to close off the boarder all together, I think that would kill our economy and only give even more of a hatred from the rest of the world.

Also gay marriage. Love is love, consenting adults shouldn't be condemmed to a common law marriage with restricted benefits just because they are of the same gender. That is a personal right and should legally be granted agree with it or not.

So, where does the Independent come in? The small issues that don't really make big news but are discussed within knowledgeable groups. My choice is dependant upon where each group stands so I can't subscribe to any all alone. I like the question!

-The Green Party is an Independent. Republican and Democrat are polar opposites; far left versus far right, conservative versus liberal, white versus black in a matter of speaking comparison wise. Party loyals would have someones head for calling the two parties one in the same.

Independant but since there is not a chance in hell one will be elected I typically vote Dem.
Bush is a good reason NOT to be a Republican. It seems to me the Republican party is full of right wing Christians who would prefer to turn the clock back and vote to take away the constitutional rights our wise forfathers put in place.
Republicans just plain suck at running the country.
Look at the deficit, the drop of the not so allmighty dollar and the world opinion of our country. We are in an unecessary war and are making threats to further invade Iran.

I was raised in a Republican household in the south back in the 1960'a and 1970's. Pretty conservative parents. Moved up north to Illinois as a Jr. High kid and met different kinds of people and stopped going to our fundamentalist church. My Dad remained a Republican and my Mom became a very liberal Democrat. I registered as first as a Republican but found that they have a tendency to make issues out of non-issues during elections and too conservative and almost felt like I needed to shower after talking to some Republicans during election times. Too smarmy and a lot of talk without really saying anything or resolving anything. Then changed to the Democratic party when I turned 30 and wanted to become more aware politically, environmentally, and more compassionate. Joined PETA, GreenPeace, Amnesty International, but then became disillusioned by how people just want more money. Now even though I am still a registered Democrat, I vote for whoever I want to. I find that both parties have their faults and I am neither too far to the left or to the right. I consider myself a moderately conservative Democrat or I could be described as a liberal Republican but I don't think they appreciate people to call themselves that. It's like calling yourself a WASP with multi-racial tendancies. Politics for the most part, can take any person who has very good intentions and corrupt them with people who are advisors that are just power hungry. It is a dirty business. A good person with morals and good ideas can be turned into a power hungry idiot. Power itself corrupts. I have become very cynical and sarcastic when it comes to politics but until they find something better, our democratic process is the best game in town. It works but it takes good people who will fight the others who are waiting to corrupt them. It takes a very strong person with strong convictions who will follow what he believes to be right and listen to the will of the people and not just listen to the people who are whispering in their ears as to what they think the American people want. It's amazing that the polls will tell politicians exactly what the American people want, but these politicians interpret the polls and twist the results to fit their agendas. It's so blatent and it seems that the only people who don't see how ridiculous it is, is the politicians and their advisors. They must really think that the American people are stupid and that is truly insulting. EVERYBODY HAS TO VOTE and keep their elected officials honest by making them accountable for their actions. Like I said, it isn't a perfect system but it is the best and only game in town.

That is not an easy question, I have been all 3 at one point along with a brief try at Communism, Socialist , Libertarian. I am now a registered Republican who usually votes Democrat in the General Elections.

None of the above, because I'm Canadian, but I suppose I'd lean towards Democrat if I were American. Maybe independent is better, because the Democrats probably just represent the same interests as the Republicans. I could be wrong, but then again that's politics for you--so many selfish, unprincipled, heartless thugs in control of everything.

Independent- I am conservative and lean Republican, but I will not vote for someone based solely on their party. I think that the two party system the way it is now is completely messing up our government system. None of our leaders seem to be concerned with what is right for this country, rather they seem to be concerned with the needs of the party and what it will take to get re-elected. Our country would be a much better place if they would concern themselves with the needs of this great nation.

I am a Republican. I favor personal liberties and hate the deluge of laws that have come into existence because people don't use common sense. I think I should be able to keep most of my paycheck and that welfare needs to be slashed. I support the president and think that limousine liberals are funny to watch. Hell, if I had several million dollars, I would probably have a grand scheme for things, too. I also think that government needs to start being run like a business and rewards given for money NOT spent. 911 was not orchestrated by the Bush administration and I think that the liberal influence on education will have disastrous consequences for years to come. I also believe that we are in the entitlement phase of our society and that the USA will not exist in 75 years because people will not have the balls to fight to keep it going. And on and on and on...
