I agree that Silence of the Lambs is a good one. Also if you want one that's kinda scary but not something you have to worry about happening to you... try Cube or Cube 2 (but not Cube Zero; it's stupid!). My favorite ghost movies are Thir13en Ghosts and The Haunting. There are two versions of each of those; the original 13 Ghosts isn't scary, but the original Haunting is, a little. Umm... the original House on Haunted Hill is also good if you want sort of scary without gore. The remake is much scarier and gorier. And if you want campy, silly horror movies, try some stuff produced by Full Moon Pictures. I especially like Puppet Master and its sequels, and Blood Dolls.

saw 1 was scary, and when saw 2 and so on came out it was boring. the grudge 1 and 2 was scary, so scary i had to watch the sequel with someone. halloween the old sequels are scary and entertaining, the new one is just about an ordinary psychopathic SOB with a communication disorder. silence of the lamb 1 was scary, the sequel was dead boring. hellraiser 1 and 2 was scary. the ring was a spook. texas chain saw massacre was scary. if you want good laughs with a scary movie theme, try army of darkness. white noise was good. if you want to watch some action packed zombie movie, try resident evil 1,2, and 3. extinction was awesome, it was great, a good kickasss fun time.

Any of the Hellraiser franchise is pretty terrifying, but yer sure to have nightmares for a very long time. Maybe try one of Clive Barker's milder films, like The Serpent and the Rainbow, about voodoo. Ghost Story, from the 80's, is pretty spooky, but not exactly for kids, as there is some nudity. The Ring is great. Sixth Sense, of course. The Others is real good. I could go on, but I'm quite sure yer bored by now. Turn out the lights and enjoy!!

Cannibal Holocaust
Has some very disturbing scenes. I wouldn't recommend it to any animal lovers and it's also very graphic.

Pet Sematary

Texas Chainsaw masacre in the beginning

Texas Chainsaw Masacre

The Night Flier
Adaptation of a Stephen King story...one of the best modern day vampire tales ever told...deliciously creepy.

Audition
Mike Takeshi's creepfest is in a category all its own...

Kairo
Japanese teens investigate a series of suicides linked to an internet webcam that promises visitors the chance to interact with the dead.
Granddaddy to the Ring and Grudge films...this 2001 film is one of the creepiest movies I have ever seen. There is an american remake called the Pulse. Skip the remake...and stick with the original. Original idea...perfect execution.

Jigoku
The story tells of a young theology student who flees a hit-and-run accident, he is plagued by both his own guilt-ridden conscience and a mysterious, diabolical doppelgänger. Eventually more deaths seem to occur around him, including his own which sends him plummeting into Hell.

One Missed Call
People mysteriously start receiving voicemail messages from their future selves, in the form of the sound of them reacting to their own violent deaths. Good stuff.
