Michael Jackson, we wouldn't have any of todays pop music if it wasn't for him, yeah Elvis is the king of rock and roll, but Michael was the only one doing what he did at his time in the 80's. and Rock and Roll isn't what is popular, like nsync said "you've got to realize what we're doing is not a trend..." and it's not.

I would say Michael Jackson, but that would too limiting. He's actually the king of entertainment! So I guess by default, the king of music could be James Brown...he did teach Michael after all. Or maybe even Quincy Jones...he's more than just a producer. He's actually been apart of some of the world's greatest musical projects. He's so versatile -from the many genres to the various duties of the music industry.
