Yes, but looks can be deceiving too.
If you do not believe looks matter, when was the last time you tried to talk to a stop sign?
This is my help from Washington, D.C. USA.

Yes on on some levels they always do. In your mid 20's down they matter to much. Then as you get a little older you find that looks do still matter but not as much and in a different way. Now I see and notice looks but if I see she has a bad attitude or is not very friendly, then I lose all interest in her. Girls that are cute or that are OK looking begin to look beautiful when they are nice and kind. That comes with age or at least it did in my case. =)

It depends what your goals in life are.
You don't need looks to have real friends and a family that care about you. You don't need looks to fall in love or start a family.
Sometimes looks can help your career. But at the end of the day, the most intelligent and hard working person will get the good jobs regardless of looks.

I don't think looks matter, but sadly they do. Maybe people will judge others over stupid things as looks. You could be really pretty but be as shallow as a sink. But having good looks are not a bad thing, it can sometimes help make a better impression sometimes

because i used to be the ugliest girl in school and now guys love me and lots of girls want to be my friends etc...(since i'm pretty now)...
i've researched this kind of stuff for YEARS.
looks matter sooooo much!!!
imagine this:
*a gorgeous girl comes up to you and gives you a cookie.
how do you feel?
probably pretty good...you'll probably think about that moment a lot that day happily and feel good that a pretty person recognized YOU. YOU were associated with a good looking person!!!
*now imagine that an ugly girl comes up to you and gives you a cookie.
would you even eat it?
would you trust the cookie?
you might even feel like she SHOULD have given you the cookie and probably won't be as grateful.
now...imagine a normal girl gives you that cookie.
your reaction probably will be very inbetween the two previous reactions; at first you might be like, "wtf?...???"
but then eat the cookie and remember it, but still not be as grateful as you were when the gorgeous girl gave you the cookie...
basically...looks matter a lot.
infact, prettier people tend to be PERCEIVED as more:
*trusted
*knowledgable
*honest
*kind
etc.
although they might be the complete opposite!
even in jobs, better looking people tend to get THOUSANDS of dollars higher pay!!!
there was a study where a pretty girl/guy dropped papers and people JUMPED out of their cars and out of their routines to help them.
then...the average girl/guy dropped papers and people just kept walking -- even managing to STEP on the papers.
they also studied with looks.
a good looking person asked for directions or even just stood there with a map(NOT looking confused even!) and people walked up to them and helped them out! some people even guided them blocks over to the destination!!!
guess what happened with the average joes???
people "Didn't have time to help them out".
looks
matter
a LOT.
sure, doesn't mean that everyone is gonna judge u just on your looks, but they still mean a looooootttt!!!

To a certain extent yes. However, beauty will always remain in the eye of the beholder.

Yes, lets say you like a guy/girl who you know barely anything about. Do you really think you'd like them entirely for their personality? No.....
Society is pretty much based on looks, unfortunatley.

personally, I could really care less.
because you look cute doesn't mean your personality is going to be. And if your ugly, doesn't mean your personality is going to be. I'd rather be with someone ugly who makes me laugh and cheers me up instead of with someone cute who makes me sad and is a jerk.
Sadly, not everyone realizes that..

To a certain extent, yeah. I mean, you need to take care of yourself, brush your hair, your teeth. Take some pride in yourself.
