Many Americans are being replaced by people from other countries. Its cheaper yet we have more Americans that has done their best at their jobs, put in long hours, and put their jobs first before their family and then get laid off. They call it down sizing only to recreate the same job under a different name and hire someone else to do the job cheaper. More money in the pockets for the people above us. We have more young Americans that are homeless because of a job lost. And the older you are the worst it gets.

Here is my take. "Greed" is not an admirable quality subjectively. I know of NO corporation that does not give something back to charity. It is known as 'goodwill'. People tend to malign the rich; however I have never met a person who, having a choice between being poor or rich, chose to be poor.

If you believe that all people are created equal, then it stands to reason that, in the richest country where everyone has the same chance at success as anybody else, that innovation and hard work are to be appreciated. And they are. And it is the innovators and hardworkers who are successful. Corporations are nothing more than the people that started them. Bill Gates started in his garage. Stephen Jobs (of Apple) had similar humble beginnings.

In answer to your question, this guy is either a) a fanatic or b) an instigator (someone who enjoys roiling the pot and can because of internet anonymity). What someone says in a chatroom is alot more volatile than if they were standing in the middle of a roomful of people.

Now, having said that, I do believe that it is the rich that make the world a better place to live. They pay 80% of the taxes that allow our society to function and as such I don't believe that we have an ongoing obligation to help the poor any more. When they do, it's above and beyond. Everyone deserves a helping hand when they are down--PROVIDED they are trying to GET UP...but in the world's richest country with all the opportunity there is, I believe many people choose to be poor. (I don't mean Charities for diseases, kids, etc.--those are worthy of all the support we can muster). Donald Trump himself declared bankruptcy. Burt Reynolds (the TOP boxoffice star of the 1970's) declared bankruptcy in the 1980's. They both made it back to the top. Because of hard work. Failure is nothing more than an opportunity to learn how NOT to do something. Too often, poor people just give up and allow defeat to subjugate them. And if corporations or rich people take care of them, they have no incentive to try. Given a choice between starvation and working, people inevitably choose work, if only to get by. It is a testament that the poorest in our country are also the most overweight. Kinda ironic, don't you think ? Try telling a starving African they are 'poor'. This is also why immigrants will eventually take over America. They know the value of hard work, don't look for handouts or excuses. THEY live in the real world. The majority of poor Americans live in a state of 'self-entitlement' or "I deserve this or that" and "the man is always trying to stick it to me"

A little bit of a rant, but hey, I feel better. How bout you ?

I think Bill Gates has probably done more for poor people than most government yet I can assure you they are not calling him either a communist or a socialist.

The reason companies give to charities, other than the fact that it's a big tax write off, is to gain goodwill from their customers, most who still have hearts of some kind. So it really does give them money...

But, yes, companies wanting profit is good, in a way, because its the mechanism for innovation. Just tell me how efficient you think any government is - and whether you would want them to find a cure for cancer... (And we're not talking about quasi-government agencies here, either.)

As far as I know, homeless people are probably not employed at Microsoft - and if there are some, I want to know what it is they do with all that money!

With regard to Chinese slave labor, no, that doesn't really happen, either. Do the Indian or Chinese or other Microsoft employees elsewhere in the world make as much as a Microsoft employee in Redmond, WA? No, but, especially the Indian or Chinese, they sure make a heck of a lot more than other Indians or Chinese! Also, as far as I know, Microsoft in Redmond still has a huge campus (where there are also Indians and Chinese working there as well as people from the US) - and there are plans to expand to Seattle (and there are also buildings in Issaquah etc.). In some sick way, too, buy using more inexpensive labor in other countries, companies like Microsoft can afford to hire more employees in the US.

MANY PEOPLE FEEL THIS WAY. THE IDEA BEING THAT IF "THE COMPANY" MAKES A PROFIT THAT A PORTION OF THAT WILL BE PASSED ALONG IN THE FORM OF WAGES AND BENEFITS. IF THE WAGES AND BENEFITS ARE NOT PAID IN THE US BUT CHINA IT IS STILL GOOD FOR SOMEONE IN CHINA BUT HE APPARENTLY IS NOT WILLING TO ADDRESS THE FINANCIAL LOSSES THAT WILL OCCUR HERE IN THE USA. MY ADVICE IS AVOID IDIOTS LIKE THIS.
