like Jon Peter Lewis for example, i know he got like millions of fan when he was on the show but when his album was release he only manges to sell 1000 cd that was in 2006 or Paris Bennett only sold 19,000 cd LaToya London 55,000 just to name a few. . i have notice some of winners 2nd or 3rd album decrese lot since their first albun was out. I know American Idol really dont give danm how successful their music career after their season have ended, cause you got to remember that A.I. is reality TV show FRIST a singing competion 2nd. what is some reasons why these Idol losers do poorly when it comes to selling their CD's

if they did not win the competition, they do not get the publicity the winner does (Paris Bennett has an album out??)

Chris Daughtry was the exception because he was an unmistakable talent and appealed to a wide variety of people, both in rock and pop. Plus they used his song on the following year's Idol, which made him more popular.

Sometimes even the winners don't do as well as Chris has done!!

Clay Aiken does well with his CD sales. Although I have seen him doing more work with his charity than promoting his CDs.

Diana DeGarmo went to Broadway instead of making CDs.

Jennifer Hudson went on to become an actress and won an Oscar.

Constantine has become a soap actor.

I think if they get some sort of career in show business they're happy. I don't think they necessarily have to sing and sell CDs to achieve their goals.

The reason American Idol uses Daughtry's song is because when the contestants go on the show, they sign a contract that gives AI creative rights to their career for a certain period of time. There was a big thing about it because Clay Aiken didn't like the album they made him do first.

Actually once the tour is over their individual contracts with AI is done. Chris's label is under Clive Davis. Clive is a big deal with AI also. He owns 19E with Simon Etc. anyways they approached Chris about using the Song Home. His CD sales were already big before they used Home. Yes that did help but he has been touring since January that helps too. Plus he is a good looking and very talented man that helps too :)
It depends on the label your on and what kind of music you put out. If you put out one thats just hard rock you won't appeal to the people that like Pop. R and B/Rap and Pop/Rock are the biggest genres out there right now (besides Country) Chris just appeals to a bigger audience then alot of them :)

I agree Chris' album is great, yet very different than Kelly's or Carrie's, the two great too. i'm quite happy he did not win. i think of he deserved to win, yet I wager he will do far extra effective without donning that identify around in the rock scene. Taylor become stable too, i think of he mandatory the win to get a great wreck. in basic terms my opinion.
