By a mixed number I assume you mean a number like
2 3/4 .
If you just need to turn it into a fraction first you need to under stand what the parts are called. In my example:
2 is the whole number.
3 is the numerator
4 is the denominator
Step one.
X multiply the whole number (2 ) times the denominator (4)
this will equal 8
Step two.
+ Add this answer (8) to the numerator (3)
this will equal 11
Step three.
Take this answer (11) and make it your new numerator over the old denominator (4)
Answer 2 3/4 = 11/4
This is considered an improper fraction. Not wrong just not "polite" ha!
Now use your other numbers and go on!

For example 1 3/4:
3 5/8
1 3/4 = 1 + 3/4 = 4/4 + 3/4 = 7/4
3 5/8 = 3 + 5/8 = (3*8)/8 + 5/8 = 24/8 + 5/8 = 29/8
So, multiply the whole number by a factor of x/x where x = the denominator. This is because x/x is =1 for all numbers except 0, so this will not change your fraction. Then simply add numerators.

Say you were trying to change 3 and1/2 into a fraction.
1. First, you want to multiply the denominator to the whole number. 3 * 2 = 6 That will give you the numerator of your converted fraction
2. Next, you add the numerator and whole number together. 3 + 1 = 4 and that will give you the denominator of your converted fraction.
3. Now that the fraction has becom 6/4, you can reduce it further to become 3/2.
There you go!

I'll answer this through an example:
3 4/7
Step 1: multiply the denominator by the whole number in front:
3 x 7 = 21
Step 2: Add the numerator to the result from step 1:
21 + 4 = 25
Step 3: The result of step 2 is the new numerator, the denominator remains unchanged:
Final answer: 25/7

Fractions incorporate 2 numbers. the best quantity is named the numerator. the backside quantity is named the denominator. numerator denominator An wrong fraction is a fraction that has a numerator extra beneficial than or equivalent to its denominator. a ideal fraction is a fraction with the numerator smaller than the denominator. A mixed quantity consists of an integer observed with the aid of a ideal fraction. occasion: The mixed quantity, 3 3/5, can get replaced to an wrong fraction with the aid of fixing the integer element to a fraction with the comparable denominator because of the fact the fractional element and then including the two fractions. thus the integer element (3) is converted to fifteen/5. The sum of the two fractions turns into 15/5 + 3/5 = 18/5. the great conversion is: 3 3/5 = 15/5 + 3/5 = 18/5.

Suppose you had a mixed number like 2 and (1/7).
you would multiply the whole number by the denominator of the fraction. so 2 * 7 = 14 parts.
14 parts + 1 part = 15 parts
=> 15/7

*note* = this process will always give you an improper fraction
Step 1. Multiply the whole number by the denominator (bottom number)
Ex.
3 4/5 >>> 3 x 5 = 15
Step 2. Add the numerator (top number) to your total
4 + 15 = 19
Step 3. Place your new total over your original denominator, and there ya go!
19 = new total
5 = original denominator
New fraction: 19/5
3 4/5 = 19/5
Hope this helps, and good luck on the math homework!

multiply the whole number by the denominator and add the numorator to that and keep the original denominator. Example: 3 2/5= 3 x 5 + 2
= 15 + 2
=17 which is 17/5

Mulitply the denominator (bottom number) by the whole number.
Then add the numerator(top number) to that number.
The denominator stays the same.
1 2/4 = 6/4 ( 4 x1 + 2= 6 and the numerator stays the same)
