Brett Somers passed away this past week, and it got me to thinking.
Why was she famous?
Internet Broadway database says she was in 1 show from 1/28/58 to 2/1/58. Thats her only Bway credit.
Internet movie database says before her big "thing" on Match Game 74 (or is it 72?) she appeard in 5 things all of them as "herself" so its clear she was never an actress.
So why was she as famous as she was?

She didn't do alot of work per se, but her years on Match Game were her best. Being married to Jack Klugman sort of started it all because I think they appeared on stage together or a TV show. After starting on Match Game from the beginning, her constant bickering with Charles Nelson Reilly was always the highlight of the show and I think people looked forward to that comedy between the two of them She may have done a broadway show, but it had to have been many many years ago....................

I know she was married to Jack Klugman for a while. That probably helped. She might have done some other work in the theater in New York.

There were plenty of people on game shows who you could have asked, "Why are they on here?"

I'm not familiar with her from anything other than the Match Game, but I think she was on that show regularly for more than just one season. As far as I know, that's why she's famous. The Match Game was really popular at the time, and it is really funny, once you get into it anyway. I'm huge fan of Richard Dawson, though, so maybe I'm biased.

She must of impressed the right people I suppose. I remember her on Match Game. Heck, they still replay the shows on Gameshow Network. She was very witty on it.
