I checked out my laptop's rams and I want to upgrade them from 2 512 MB RAMs to 2 1 GB RAMs and this is what comes up for their specs:

SPS-MEM 512MB PC2-5300

now I nead to know what that means

I need to know the bus speed and other details because I live in egypt and I don't have a credit card so I need details to go to a shop and but it personally and people hear don't understand anything but "rams for laptops ddr2 bus speed 667" for example that's the kind of detail I'm looking for

it's an HP pavilion dv6291ea laptop that can hold a max of 2 GB of RAM

To put it in the terms you said, just tell them you need RAM for laptops, DDR2 bus speed 667Mhz. PC2-5300, basically translates to DDR2 (PC2) and 667Mhz (5300).

How do you know the laptop will address 2 gigs of ram? The specs say 512 not 1 gig and there are two slots so max could be 1 gig... whats the mfr model laptop?

so you have almost 1 gig of ram in there now which is good the ram is the opperating speed at which the comp runs at the more gigs you have the faster it is you can always jsut keep the 1 gig in but if you already have the 2 1 gig no doubt use them the laptop with run faster then a jackrabbit

PC2-5300 is a type of RAM, based on speed other factors. Double Data x2 667 Mhz.

512mb is the amount of ram the next step up is 1gb
5300 is the processor speed you need pc2-5300 ram.

Just tell the store you need 2 pieces of 1Gb SODIMM ddr2-667mhz or PC2-5300. It should look like this:
