My car runs fine, and nothing (that I know if) if wrong with it..I just want to make sure it stays like that. So, how much would a tune up for a 1996 Grand Am SE cost? Also, what would they "tune up"

I live in Ohio if that helps any

If your car runs fine have your spark plugs replaced and no more. Fuel filters and air filters are money nakers. I would expect this service would be done at oil change. I have two vehicles, a '96 cougar and "84 dodge neither have ever had a fuel filter change. Gasoline is clean and unless contaminated in some way will cause no filter problems. Todays cars are all electronic controlled so there is nothing to "tune up" It's a money maker for not so honest service shops. Never flush your radiator. It will make a good radiator go bad. All a flush does is stir up all the sediment so it can clog your radiator. Tune ups are a rip off plain and simple

for a really good basic tune up it shouldn't cost you over 200 bucks and that's for everything ,they should also scan the computer and find out if all the systems are working well on it,the complete job should cost you no more than 200,that's a good way to keep it running good though is to keep it tuned up well, you,ll also keep it getting good gas mileage, they should replace spark plugs and wires if needed and cap, also fuel and air filters on it,good luck with it.

Most tune ups run around 150 to 200. this often includes replacements of spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, oil, oil filter, PCV valves and may sometimes include a flush and refill of the coolant and replacment of thermostat. Depends on who you go to.
