This sounds like a very stupid question, but I was talking to some people from Chicago and they told me they had never seen one in person; other than TV or books.

I grew up, a farm boy in England.
I remember the time when I KNEW I didn't want to be a farmer. We had some cattle in a field, during Winter - there was a very small amount of grass. One steer had gone to the drinking place - a brook with no major bank and a fence that ran down the middle of the brook.
The steer got sunk up to it's torso in the mud around the drinking hole. I was "volunteered" to take a rope & loop it around the steers neck, so we could use a tractor to pull the steer out of the mud.
So there I was up to MY nuts in ice cold mud, with ice & snow on top of the mud, with a frantic steer trying to crawl over me, to get out, while I tried to laso it & I thought "an office job might be a nice career".

Not only in Chicago but many people around the world have never seen real farm animals.

I have seen lots of cows. They have the most beautiful eyes, and velvety noses, like horses. I came upon about 4-5 cows standing belly deep in a flooded ditch or pond, and the surface of the water was completely covered in green duckweed. It was strangely beautiful and of course, I did not have my camera! But I'll never forget how the cows started to move towards my car after I came to a stop to watch them on their lonely country road.

Yes but I live around a fair amount of farms. I even milked one once at a petting zoo.

Yes, Rosie O Donnell is an example of a cow. She's annoying and a fatty as well.

Yes there are about 50 in the field next to where I live and there's one who lives down the road.

Oh, please!!! Are you sure they weren't pulling your leg?? I grew up in Chicago and I have seen PLENTY of cows! Even if you don't venture out of the city, there is still the zoo, for goodness sake! LOL

I used to live adjacent to a a dairy farm. So the answer is yes. I have seen them young and old, sober and drunk, clean and smelly, pregnant and virgin.
