You can't just take that from somebody... If you have bad credit becasue you put a car in your name for your sister, then you have to work to build it up again. Takeing your brothers SSN will only land you in trouble, and you can face a court and possibly jail time for defrauding the system and using an identity other than your own.

I am pretty sure it is illegal. But good luck. I would honestly just try to rebuilt your own credit to do that you should have a credit card and charge no more than 30% of the balance each month and pay it off, also put utilities in your name. That will help you build the credit. Better than getting arrested.

i let my sister use my info to get a huge house loan and guess what, we don't talk anymore because she ran off on me with trouble. the house is to be foreclosed and i sacroficed myself to repair, change job temporarily, etc. it is just not happening now. im gonna spend my mid life on crisis.
apparently your siblings are naive enough to share ssn for credits etc. save yourself is like saving the family so move on wiser. your 19 yr old brother has no clue what is to happen with his life. if you care about him like he would give his ssn for your use, dont touch his ssn. if he's willing to feed you, you should feed him by not doing something stupid.

He cant just give it to you. But do you mean like use it to open a credit card or get a car? I think thats fine, if he trusts u enough to use it then he can accept any conciquinces such as you messing it up or making it better for him.

Hate to tell you, but your ssn isn't something that you can give away. Sort of like your genetic problem that causes your nose hairs to grow at an unusually fast rate.

He can't just give it away, it's not his choice It's government issued once your SSN is issued it's yours for life. Besides using someone else's SSN for any reason what so ever, whether it be for credit or anything is ILLEGAL!

other than being illegal, I am not sure what this would get you because legally the number would still be attached to your brother name not yours. Just start rebuilding your credit, and do not allow anyone else to mess it up again.

Maybe a better idea would be to get some joint accounts. You'd be borrowing your brother's credit, and building your own without committing fraud. He's going to need his social.

you can't just "take" someone elses ssn. He will need it someday and if your sister did that, than you can get her for fraud, which is exactly what would land you some jail time if you used your brothers
