1) don't know. I've heard many different things. many believed it for a long time. someone had to prove it to the church so they could accept it. one man did that, but the idea had already been around for a while. people say arostotile and others say columbus. I just think it depends on what part of the world your in.
2) the tilt of earth's axis
3) true
4) we both (the moon and the earth) spin, but the sun doesn't. so its the suns light coming from a single point as the moon circles around us.
5) no clue, actually I think near hawaii theres a little mountain sticking out of the ocean. if you took away all the water, it would be taller than Mt Everest

1. Unknown. However the first person to PROVE the world was round was in ancient Greece. Based upon a well in Egypt where the sun at noon shined straight down.

2. The 21 degree tilt of the earth causing the sun to "progress" north and south through the year.

3. True. The orbit of earth is pretty close to round and the little variation has little effect on the seasons.

4. The 28.5 day orbit of the moon around the earth and the angle between the sun, moon and earth. If you call the full moon the start, it is directly opposite the earth from the sun. At that angle, we see the entire sun lit face. As it progresses in its orbit, it first wains as we see less and less of the sun lit face. When it is between the earth and the sun we see none of the sun lit face and have the dark back side facing us. Then it waxes as it finishes its orbit as we see more and more of the sun lit face. (The side of the moon towards the sun is ALWAYS fully lit, we just can not always see it).

5. Mt. Everest. It was the highest even before it was discovered, we just did not know it.
