I need some help becoming an actress/model. I plan on moving to california in the next yr and a half. Does anyone have any advice on how I could become one? I have been in school plays and I have potential according to the director of the play and said he could see me in movies and on magazines someday. So how could I make my dream happen without waiting for years and years

Tons of youngsters ask this very same question every day. Look up the answers they got. There is no secret. There are thousands of kids who want the same thing and less than one percent of them will ever get even one paying job. If you're not willing to wait years and years you shouldn't bother trying. You don't want it enough. It takes years and years of effort for most people. And even then success is at best a remote possibility. You see the very few that do succeed and think you can be one of them. If you're going to go into this at all go in knowing what you're in for.

You need to get over your shyness first or you wont be a model or actress. Start by taking acting classes or dance classes or even debate club. The only way to get over shyness is to keep performing in front of other people until it finally becomes comfortable. Acting or dance classes are also a good help to become a model because you have to know hoow to work on camera, how to move your body, and how to speak clearly if you want to do commercials

if you're planning on going to california then go to sag.org and look for all the sag franchised agencies in the area that you are going to. for modeling all you need to do is send a few snapshots of yourself with out makeup and your hair pulled back in front of a plain background. the snap shots should consist of one closeup of your face, one full body and a profile shot. for acting you need a good headshot, resume and cover letter.

i dont know where theatre doc is getting his info from but you should never ever ever pay to learn how to model. It's not the same thing as acting. You go to an agency and if they dont like your walk then they will teach you how but they wont charge you for it. Everyone who claims to be a modeling school is a scam, and they wont teach you anything useful

I have answered over 600 questions here since. May of this year. I would say that 200 of them are the question you just asked. For this reason, to keep from writing the same answer over and over, I created a free ebook with an expanded answer. You can download it on my website for actors: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com . Just sign in on the right column and you can access it for free. It's called How To Start An Acting Career. It's 36 pages and a quick read.

You can also sign up for my blog.

Hope that helps.

OK. If you want to model, you should take modeling lessons at the nearest modeling school. If your folks pay for that we can assume they back you in your pursuit of acting and modeling. That accomplished. You need a mentor to help you find what you are seeking without getting scammed and to teach you what you need to know to succeed. That is what I do, I mentor aspiring actors for free. if you would like more info, click on my name, read my profile and write me at my aol address
