The other night my husband was watching TV in bed and I went to have a shower, when I finished I came to bed and waited out the end of the show he was watching, it was 10.30pm already and then another show came on which would only finish at 11.30, he started watching it and I asked him to go watch in the lounge because I want to go to sleep. He refused and said I can sleep with the TV on, thing is I cannot, never have been able to, I need complete silence and darkness, I put a pillow over my head and tossed and turned for the entire hour. When his stupid show finished I asked him to apologise for being inconsiderate and not caring that I couldn't sleep but he wouldnt, he said I 'didn't try hard enough to sleep' I think that since it is our bedroom and the only place we sleep that if he wants to watch TV late that he should go to another room so I can fall asleep. What do you think and are any of you like me as far as the darkness and silence goes?

Oh and by the way I got really angry that he wouldnt apologise so I kept bugging him, he kept ignoring me so I started trying to kick him off the bed (because I can't sleep on an argument) I couldn't be bothered anymore so we had sex lol and then fell asleep at 1.30 in the frickin morning! This is ridiculous and this TV argument happens so often. I think I might relocate the TV actually.

You're absolutely right. He should have watched it in the living room. The bedrooms for sleeping.

I also have to have complete silence and darkness when I sleep too.

We have a TV in our bedroom as well, I like to personally watch TV late at night as well, but it does bother my husband, so I will shut it off, because like you said you are right I totally agree with you the bedroom is to sleep, so yes he should have been more considerate, but than again he's a guy, so what do you expect, LOL... At least you had make up sex! And that is always great! LOL

Definitely relocate the TV. If there is another place to watch TV, there is no reason for him to keep you awake.

I am a big believer that we don't really fight about the things we think we fight about. On the surface, we may think we are fighting about sleep vs TV. I think, however, that this smacks of a power struggle over shared space and autonomy.

Just my 2 cents.

Good luck with the resolution!

I think he was extremely inconsiderate, and you should take the TV out of the bedroom. He should have recorded the show and made love to you then watched his show in the LR.

My boyfriend does this to me all the time...even when he knows I have to get up at 4 am to go to work. So I "forgot" to pay the satellite bill, and it got shut off. Silly me, I keep "forgetting" to pay to have it turned back on, too.

You're right. That's where you sleep, get dressed, and have sex. I'm of the opinion that If you want to do something else, you should do it somewhere else.
