Chipmaker is right, and this is why many of us Twins fans HATE Pohlad. He is far far richer than Steinbrenner, and it is a sloppy and lazy answer to say George is the richest.
Pohlad used to pocket the luxury tax money and not spend it on his team; he also tried to get his team contracted. He illegally loaned Bud Selig money, too. And he made his fortune by foreclosing on mortgages.
I just checked the Forbes list. Pohlad is worth 3.1 BILLION dollars, Steinbrenner is "only" worth 1.3

I don't have an answer to your question. But there was an interview with the Mets owner on the sports radio station in NY a few years ago where the owner of the Mets was asked if it hurts that he has to compete with Steinbrenner as far as spending money because George has more money. The response was "George doesn't have more money than me, most of the owners have more money than George, George just likes to spend more of his money on players."
However the Yankees franchise is probably worth the most in value because of their payroll, media, marketing and merchandising contracts.

i think of Forbes did the "Richest human beings" and a few baseball vendors made it. i think Steinbrenner become the 5th richest in baseball. an person-friendly false impression is that each physique of those vendors do not care approximately their team and in basic terms pocket all the money, it quite is untrue to an volume.
