If this were a newer car, it may affect the oxy sensor, but on that van, there will be no ill effects. Just fill the gas tank to dilute it and you'll be fine.
I once dumped 5 gallons of gas mixed with 2 stroke engine oil into my car when I was stranded out in the desert. The car still runs like new.

short answer..yes. While the fuel filter may catch some of it, depending on the viscosity (thickness)of the additive, it won't catch all of it. If the additive gets into the combustion chamber, it could be bad. Best thing is to call around to like pep boys or any local shop that can do a flush of the system and drain the tank. It should not cost too much. If the car has been run have them check the spark plugs also, because any of the additive that got through could foul them up. Good luck man!

It depends what oil additive he put in there. There are some additives like Chemtool that can be used with both the oil and the gasoline for cleaning purposes.
BUT, if he put something like oil treatment in the gas tank you have to tow the car to a shop to have the tank pulled, gasoline disposed of properly, clean the tank, and put it back. DO NOT do this at home. It is very dangerous and illegal to dispose of gasoline at home.

Top off the tank to dilute it a little more, you may have to clean the plugs later.
But I have a brother who mixes oil into his gas to clean the engine. I also met a man who was running a blend of diesel and gas in a VW Rabbit.
So there should be no problem if it was only one can of additive, may even prove beneficial as it may provide top end lube the engine needs.

More than likely not much will happen, the engine will burn the additive, you might get some smoke from it, just fill the gas tank to dilute the additive, that is the best thing to do.

Gasoline is often used as a solvet for alot of things though not a very stable solvent it breaks anything oil based down. Most likely the gas will break it down and it will burn with the gas. He may notice a small change in his Gas mileage and possibly a little bit of smoke. Other then that nothing will happen.

This is OK. I know that you're not talking about anything thick like STP or engine honey.
20 gallons of gasoline will really thin it out and it will pass through the system unnoticed.
Kind of like adding a top cylinder lubricant like Marvel Mystery Oil additive or transmission fluid. All of the lines or hoses that handle gasoline are oil and chemical resistance s well.
Good Luck!

It will be gone after a couple tanks of gas. Any oil additive has to be able to burn in the cylinders since you always burn a little oil in the ancient engines people use it in. John is a freakin idiot, as evidenced by his recommendation of Pep Boys.

it depends on which oil addative he used. if it is anti smoke or something really thick like lucas yeah prolly better empty the tank and don't try to cheat and use the in tank fuel pump to do it. the danger is the thick fluid burning the pump up

won't really hurt it if you keep the gas tank full all the time, i mean fill it up every time it hits 3/4 tank. do that for awhile and it'll thin out and burn
