1. 8n-10-12n= -18
combine the n's to get -4n
now your equation is -4n-10= v-18
so move your ten over- add it to -18
-4n= -8
divide by 4
n=2

2. 2/3(x+1)=10
so you want to move over the 2/3
x+1=15
so x= 14
hope this helped

8n-10-12n=-18
-4n = -8
n =2
check
8*2 - 10 - 12*2 = -18
16 -34 = -18
-18 = -18
checks

2/3(x+1)=10
multiply both sides by 3/2
3/2 * 2/3(x+1) = 10 * 3/2
(x+1) = 15
x = 14

This assumes you mean 2(x+1)/3 and not 2 / 3(x+1)

If the (x+1) is in the denominator,
2 /3(x+1)=10
multiply both sides by 3/2
3/2* 2 /3(x+1) = 10 *3/2
1/(x+1) = 15
1 = 15x + 15
-14 = 15x
-14/15 = x

1. 8n - 10 - 12n = -18
First, combine like terms:
8n - 12n - 10 = -18
-4n - 10 = -1
Add 10 to both sides:
-4n - 10 + 10 = -18 + 10
-4n = -8
Multiply both sides by -1:
-1(-4n) = -1*-8
4n = 8
Divide both sides by 4:
4n / 4 = 8 / 4
n = 2

2. 2/3(x + 1) = 10
Divide both sides by 2/3:
x + 1 = 10 / (2/3)
x + 1 = 10 x (3/2)
x + 1 = 30 / 2
x + 1 = 15
Subtract 1 from both sides:
x = 15 - 1
x = 14

1. 8n-10-12n=-18
-4n-10=-18
-4n=-8
n=2

2. 2/3(x+1)=10
2/3x+2/3=10
2/3x=9 and 1/3
x=14
