I saved the changes and it took. Sometimes my new one shows up and then the old one appears again.

It's just another glitch in the Yahoo system.
I figure that when they wrote the code for the latest updates, they didn't make it "clean" enough to overwrite the old system successfully, and it is that old code reasserting itself through "windows" accidentally left open in the system, that we are seeing as glitches with the avatars.
I noticed this with Tealc666's avatar, when it kept on changing between his old Vietnam Vet photo, and the Scottish Knight one. (I DO like the Knight much better Sir Teal!)
I do like the new hairdo daisymae. It makes you look more like your namesake.

Today i changed my avatar to my photo. Though i have marked it as primary, it didnt show in the box next to my answers. But i see it as a bigger picture further left top. Really dont understand. I wasted some time trying to get it right. In the end, i gave up.
Hey, now it is there.... playing tricks huh !!!

I read the other day that there were many people with this same problem. From the answers that I read it was due to a glitch and should be corrected shortly.

yes i had the same problem i threatened an air strike but i didn`t help
