honestly, I wouldn't worry about a girlfriend, and concentrate on your studies. I have been told by many a grad students that you guys are loaded with work, especially if you teach a few classes. Girls will always be around, so don't worry to much about having one now, and don't worry if others have one. Do what makes you happy otherwise.

That all depends on yourself and what qualities that attracts you to a women, and what does the grad student thing have to do with it
