Edited to add ~ And don't forget to keep in touch with your friends in NY! They'll be looking forward to hearing about your experiences and won't want to lose touch :-)
~*~*~*~
Seriously, the best thing you can do is join in some local club or group or activity.
It will get you involved in something so you don't have so much time to feel sad, and also you can meet some other people.
If it's a small town, the chances are there are some others who would love to head for th bright city lights someday, as well as some who want to stay right where they are and love the small town life.
Maybe you could start writing down all the reasons why people like or hate living in a small town, or even make a video about it. Think about the things you love most about life in NY and then ask people if they would like that where you are ~ some will, some won't, and it would be fun to record what they say.
Also, it will give you a chance to meet people and talk about why you are making a video, because you feel homesick and want to meet others.
If you enjoy walking, running or horseriding, a small town in Texas might be a great place to do those things ~ or learn how to do them if you don't know.
And, if nothing helps, start saving your allowance so that when time comes for you to leave home, you'll have enough to rent an apartment while you find a job in the place you like best. Or, get a part time job to add to your savings.
Having a job is also a great way to pass the time!
Good luck and best wishes :-)

Find something you like and get involved sports, drama, music etc. Once you find something you like then you will start making friends and some memories. things will get better for you and just maybe Texas life won't be that bad. I am sure Texas has somethings that you did not have in New York, like yards. Can you tell I have not been to New York. So take advantage of Texas and get as much as you can out of where you live. Time will go by faster if you do.

You must feel happy you can analyze your feelings this way, and you are not really a confused teenager!
The positive points in what you say are -
You already have atleast one friend in Texas, through whom you can make more very soon. It's upto you to do that!
No.2,you WANT to make the most of Texas, and so there is no mental block there, actually.
So, shake off your diffidence and see what is the best available in your tiny town - mountain biking, hiking, Nature walks, swimming, rowing, cattle shows, ranch visits, making new friends, bringing up pets, farm life in general,a new kind of School, and what have you! Travel to Austin or Dallas when you can, see what they offer you, but never compare them with NY. They have their own charm, but don't get addicted to Town life alone. Night life isn't everything! In fact that can be harmful to your metabolism. When you go back to NY after 3 years and get cooped up in your apartment, you will sure yearn for the wild, wide open spaces and the mountain terrain. Make the best use of the God-given opportunity to have a healthy body and mind the next few years, who knows you'd want to come back there when you take up a job! Surprise your folk!! You just need a small change in your Attitude! Best wishes!

Even though you hate it and it might be hard, I would get involved in as many school activities or outside of school activities as possible. Take up a new sport, join a new club, maybe get a job at a place you love to shop....you just might find all sorts of new friends...maybe you're just not looking in the right places! :) Expand your horizons. It might be hard at first to force yourself to do it, but in the process you may also learn a new skill, fall in love with a new sport/activity and make the best out of living in Texas. Don't make your high school years a time you look back on and regret.....they're such an important time and it will go SO fast. Best wishes.

Join a group at school. Or a team sport. If you have something to focus your time on you may not think about New York so much. Also, you mind find some more friends in the process.
Also, if you can, get a part time job and save up money to take a trip back once and a while. Hang in there. Moving can be tough.

Maybe you'll meet your soulmate in Texas. You never know. Give it a chance.
Personally, I have never been to Texas and I'll probably never go there (where as I've been to New York City and am thinking of moving there when I finish school).
Still, don't give up on Texas. God took your family there for a reason. Give it time.

Make new friends! Texas is a wonderful place to live. If you don't live to far from one the big cities have your parents take you there. Your dad did what he had to do to make a better life for your family. Don't be too hard on him....

Try to seek out things to do and even if you only find ONE thing you enjoy doing there then focus on it. Or sometimes just that one friend can get you thru a lot.
If you don't wanna do a hobby alone...I'm sure you can figure out something with your friend to do on a regular basis or daily or whatever.
It may seem like time is going slow for you now, but you'll see it will fly by. Believe me.
Enjoy your next 3 years because you will laugh at some of the things you did in TX with your friends in NY.

Being from Texas I love it. I think its the best state of course we Texans take pride in our state. I live in a town with the population of 3,360, everyone knows everyone. We ride around, go to the drive-in, go to dances, football is a HUGE thing in our town so thats what everyone does on Friday night. Just be yourself everyone in Texas is nice. It gets boring but there is no other state like the Lone Star State so make the most of it while your here. Email me if you want advice tips someone to talk to-anything

Break a leg in drama club!
But small towns have their perks. Ever hear the saying "it's better to be a big fish in a small pond?"
Get to know as many people as you can. Find out every social event in the town, even small towns have events. Get to know the local history, some places have almost as many stories to them as NYC itself.
You'll run the place in a year, I'm sure. :-)
