I used dreft maybe for a few loads of washes. All, (not the baby all), is perfectly fine. I was a single mom so I ended up getting a cheap kind and my daughter had no problems. Just try out what you would like to and see how your child reacts to it. Some babies are allergic to some and some are not allergic to any.

I only bought one bottle of Dreft. After that was gone, I tried my son on the same detergent I use (Gain) and he did fine. It all depends on how sensitive your baby's skin is. I have a two year old sister that still uses Dreft because she is so sensitive. Just wash an item or two of his clothing in whatever you use and give it a try. If he has a bad reaction, switch back. I'd do the same with the Clorox.

I've never used dreft or anything like it. My boys have never had a problem with it. (one exception...my 11 year old had eczema and had to have a free and clear detergent when he was little). I would steer clear of bleach at this time though. I use spray and wash on every little thing, and I spray it as soon as possible after the culprit was spilled on the clotheing. I only have one onsie that is stained. Even though the spray and wash says to allow it to set for up to 5 minutes, I still leave it until I do the next load, and it works fine for me.

to tell you the truth i use dreft for about the first two months with my daughter.. you can change it up. but just dont do a very scented detergent and just watch out for some rashes . i would say after a week of clothes being wore with the new detergent you should be ok.

So just wash them once or twice in clorox, then go back to dreft. Dreft and Ivory are the most gentle, and least likely to cause skin irritation on your baby. P.S. I used to add borax to my son's laundry to help get the wet/dirty diaper smell out.
I'd use dreft until 1 year.

I've been using All Free & Clear since my son was about 5 months old. It has no dye or fragrance, and leaves his clothes very bright. About getting his clothes fresh white, why don't you try soaking them in cold water for an hour, then running it thru the hot cycle with a little bleach, and rinsing twice.
Hope this helps.

When I had my first child, I didn't start using regular detergent until she was almost a year old. When I had my second child, I started using regular detergent when he was about 1 month old. I figured if he didn't get a rash from me holding him (and my clothes were washed in regular detergent) that it would be alright for his to be washed in it also. The only thing I would say is to try it out and if you notice any rash develop after the first few days, then stop doing it. If no rash develops, then go for it!

If baby detergent isn't getting rid of stains and odors on your baby's clothing as well as you'd like, it may be time to switch to a regular liquid detergent. Unless your baby has allergies, eczema, atopic dermatitis or other conditions causing sensitive skin, washing your little one's clothes with the rest of the family's clothes isn't likely to irritate your baby's skin. Liquid detergents are your best bet because they work for all types of clothes. You may even want to use stain-removing detergents for tough stains.
I used dreft and I used Ivory.....just rinse the clothes well, that is the main thing...
Here is a hint for stains
Hints for removing difficult baby stains
soak stained baby clothes in hot water with a solution of half a cup of vinegar and half a cup of laundry soap
use a moistened cloth dipped in baking soda to remove sour milk stains on clothes

my son was born april 25, 07 and last week's laundry day i ran out of his dreft so for the first time i used the free and clear arm and hammer and nothing happened to him and its a lot cheaper. You don't have to use arm and hammer but the free and clear (free of perfumes and dyes) comes in many different brands like tide,all.... so you can use any one of those also. I wouldn't suggest any kind of bleach even if its soft just yet and these sites should help... check them out they are very useful
