Supplimentary means A + B = 180

A = 3B -10

so 4B -10 = 180
4B = 190
B = 47.5
A = 132.5

Supplementary means they add up to 180 degrees. If one angle measures 10 degrees less than 3 times the other you can set up an algebra equation that represents that.

x = angle 1

x+(3x-10) = 180
4x-10=180
4x= 190
x=47.5

which means angle 2 is 47.5*3-10 or 132.5

A + B = 180
A = 3B - 10

so; 3B - 10 + B = 180
4B - 10 = 180
4B = 190
B = 47.5
A = 180 - 47.5 = 132.5

y = 3x - 10

(3x - 10) + x = 180
4x - 10 = 180
4x = 190
x = 47.9

Angle 1 = 47.5
Angle 2 = 132.5
