before we opened Pandora's box, we had not been aware that there had been 'evil' or pestilence inside. We placed our hopes, our dreams on the box; we hoped that it will be our panacea or the ticket to the future we have always dreamed of. Before the box was opened, to us it had been brimming with hope.
Alas! When we opened it, it proved to be our bane. Strife, pestilence, war and death--our illusions were swept away by the mighty tide of reality. The box, it turned out, had been full of evil and malice.
But hope remains. With the opening of the box, every good was countered with an equal but opposite bad. But it is this very duality of existence that resulted with the opening of the box that made us cherish how great it is to be alive. Without darkness, there is no light. All is not lost.
A dark angel in the guise of a demon was inside the box. If only we are wise enough to see through the disguise...

Pandora's Box contained sorrow, pain, misery, ect. Basically, all the evils that humanity faces. When she opened the box all of these evils escaped, but she shut the lid before hope could get out.
