I'm a conservative who is moderate in some ways. My parents are also conservatives. Although we discussed politics, elections, etc. as I was growing up, I'm not really too certain as to how much influence I received from them.

Both, and neither. I'm somewhere in the middle, with some views that would be considered conservative (small gov't), some liberal (pro-choice). I do tend to lean toward the conservative side, and I am registered Rep. I was a Dem a long time ago, because that is what my parents are. However, as I grew older my views changed, and became a little more conservative. I think very few people can say that they are 100% on one side or the other. But, I also get frustrated with both parties, and if it wasn't for the fact that my state has closed primaries, I would be independent.

Sorry its not a clear answer, but neither are my views cut & dry.

I'm more of a moderate... depending on the issues, I can lean liberal or conservative.

My mother was a good influence on my beliefs when I was younger. As I've gotten older and the world has changed some, so has my thinking. When I was younger I would have considered myself to be a liberal Democrat but I register as Independent now, and my beliefs have gotten a little more conservative in the past few years.

I wouldn't want to peg myself down as either just a liberal or conservative though... even though many on here would cast me off as a flaming liberal, due to my beliefs on abortion and gay marriage.

I came to the States in '68' and at that time the USA was king. People used to make fun of things made in Japan...now everything is made there or in China. In '69' we landed on the moon. Where have we been since? This country has been in conservative mode since the election of Richard Nixon, but the liberal bashing continues. The status quo won't cut it, and liberalism will return because those conservative idiots are pushing it there. Thank god!!! I'm liberal because I like the element of possibility. Conservatives preach too much, they think they know what's good for everybody else, and I reject that notion.

Conservative.

Depends on the issue. Are lots of exceptions but I like the theory that Conservatives come from a primary attraction to a stern father figure that stresses "Don't whine. Do for yourself" . Liberals come from attraction to a compassionate mother that stresses making things better regardless of whose fault it is. That is why most women are liberals as well as men from fatherless homes. Is more of a male thing to not want someone else to pay your way.

The conservatives call me a hippy wierdo. The liberals call me a superb-wing whackjob. It kinda relies upon on who's around me; I surely tend to combat for the underdog. different viewpoints are good component. I purely elect in line with what's sensible and may well be argued logically. this would take a *long* time; i've got been acused of being overly analytical (through the two aspects). I piss the two off with the grilling, yet i'm noticeably affected person in searching for solutions. i'm going to in no way be a toddler-kisser... I surely have (technically) basically one back tat that flows halfway down my left arm and a couple of/3rds down the back. would make larger it down the final arm slightly and perchance over the shoulder to the top chest. thinking of the calves too, yet then they become #2 & #3.

I define myself as other because I don't generally fit into the narrow stereotypes of either party or their propaganda.

I base my belief on research and judgement based on how I define my own morals. My parent's beliefs were mixed. One was more conservative than the other, so I was exposed to both views at a young age. My beliefs are different in some areas and the same in others, though I often come to my own conclusions in a diffeent way then they did.

I consider myself a Liberal. However... I use a different definition that what Liberal has come to mean today. I am almost 100% Libertarian, and have voted Libertarian in every Election I could vote in. Put very (VERY) simply Libertarian Philosophy is Economically Conservative (You keep whats yours, government hands off) and Socially Liberal (Again, a Government hands off approach) I reccomend checking out
WWW.LP.ORG and read the platform... Only makes sense to me

My dad is conservative and my mother is anti-politics.

I used to lean more to the left until the left aligned itself with lunatic extremists. I also learned what elitist means.

Now I try to stay more toward the center. I have some liberal beliefs, and I have some conservative beliefs, but probably more conservative.
