Well, I don't know, but I guess what I'm about to state is why you are asking. It was right about that time that some car makers started using that red, not yellow-green (I don't know the name of the red) anti-freeze. If I were you, I would take it to a repair place that offers a radiator "FLUSH" and get all the old stuff out of there whatever it is and put in the old standard Prestone. You know you can't mix the red with with yellow-green. But, for sure, check the owner's manual or call a Toyota dealer.

Water pumps have not needed any type of lubricant since the 30's when they had a grease fitting on them so you could pump grease in to lubricate the packing. Water pumps contain a SEALED bearing and the water seal is a MECHANICAL SEAL that requires no lubrication. It is composed of a carbon seal running against a carbide surface. It can be damaged if you run your radiator too low on coolant. You can in fact rebuild your water pump if you wish to purchase the bearing and the seal. Not really cost effective but I have done it.

Go to your nearest auto parts store and look at the container. They usually say something like "GM approved" or "approved for use in Honda cars" etc etc.

OR, simply ask the store employee, and they will help you get the right one.

look in the owners manual it will tell you ,if your changing it for the winter you can change it to the green kind,it wont hurt a thing, the only difference is the red kind is safer if it was to be left where kids or small animals could get to it,either color will work in it though, good luck with it.
