I am gonna change the transmission filter in my 2000 venture and was wondering how many qts. of transmission fluid it would take to fill it back up after draining it all? Thanks

Make sure yo have a dipstick/fill tube before you drop the pan. The idiots at GM stopped adding dipsticks in some models and you can't measure the fluid level and can't refill through a dipstick tube. My neighbors Malibu is one of those models. The owners manual says "normal use" (not Taxi Cab or Police use or towing) you don't EVER have to change the fluid. So, these folks are stuck even though there's a fill hole cut in the transmission housing you can't measure the fluid level if you can even find a funnel to access the fill hole hiding next to the exhaust manifold and under the air intake stuff.

You will need about six quarts to refill it. Add four quarts first and then start the engine and check the level. Then add #5, check it and then #6 if needed.

Your drain pan will be a good gauge since most have marks on the sides and tell you how much fluid you just drained out.

Good Luck!
