Build it! I say this since there's no better feeling at the end of the day, and it almost makes you feel like a god, lol. I'm sure you'll know what I mean there?
Iv'e built my own too btw and if I had to choose between the wife or this .... oops better not say incase she reads this. (caught her spying the other day)
I did acually blow my first computer up years ago. It was P2. Tears in my eyes and running with the box to my mates house only to be told "wow pal, Iv'e never seen anything more fried than this before." So that taught me a lesson and now I'm making computers that just simply rock. So if you want the easy way out then buy is a must. But if you like the satifaction of knowing it was your own work then making is a must.
Overall answer: Build!

I used to build all my computers, back in the 8086/286/386/486 days. The first Pentium I tried to build, I had a lot of trouble. I got to thinking it was the bandwidth of the motherboard, that it ran at such a high frequency it was probably very sensitive to how it was put together, installed in the case. I took it out and re-installed it a few times. And it would always work but it would always have problems after a while. Finally I took it to a shop someone recommended to me and it worked fine after that.

Nowadays I have a place I go where I can specify all the components I want in a new computer, and actually they only charge for the components, they put it together for me for free. Which is the best of both worlds.

But I have to admit I miss putting computers together! I've sometimes thought it might be nice to take the A+ course just so I could do it. 8^)

Anyway, if you get your A+, congratulations!

Build, fella at the computer store I use is great and you get what you need not what a company thinks you need, I have two hard drives on mine and an awesome photoeditor and some basic stuff, 6 usb ports, voice activation, built in mike and a lot of other stuff, but I live with mine on the road it really depends on what you are going to use it for and how much you want to put into it

I have always built mine for the last 10 years or so. I buy parts that are last year's technology & can usually put together a nice system for around $300.00 or so.

It depends, whether you want it for work or if you want it for media reasons (Gaming, music, etc.) If it's for work then you should buy a regular built one. But if you want it for media reasons then you should order the parts and build it yourself.
