the amish i am familiar with are extreme hard workers down to the youngest kids picking weeds or watering acre of land by bucket
the husband plows his field with a two huge horses and a plow the wife works hard in the buisness ( a nursery and back goods and canning of veggies ) plus she takes care of the kids and washes all the clothes in a wringer washer and hangs it out to dry and usually she is pregnant while doing all that. They are always moving, always lifting, always digging something. and really the kids are super nice and helpful and give them a fudge-pop and they will love you forever!

The Amish eat mostly homegrown products. Berries, rhubarb , homemade breads and butters. They make their own wonderful tasty cheese's . Butcher their own meat. Rabbit meat raised domestically, chickens, turkeys beef, and geese. Make all their own jams/jellies from all types of fruit. They make Apple butter, and Apple cider. They raise Hens that lay eggs and even sell the eggs. Their gardens are out of this world and ever so clean. The homemade pies melt in your mouth . They use real cream and make ice cream in the snow during the cold months. They tap trees to harvest the sap, to make Maple syrup and sugar and raise sorghum for syrup and silage for the cattle. The women, make cucumber pickles and relish. They make tomato juice and stewed tomato's and preserve them. Beets, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, green beans/peas and when the cabbage is ready they make sauerkraut. The Amish in America are Great People.

they eat what we eat! except they grow, raise, butcher and cook it. Think about a grocery store with no pre-processed frozen dinners, boxes of cocoa puffs and packages hot dogs- that is what the amish eat.
