(bi) Factorise 5x^2 + 8x + 3

I know how to do the above...Ans is (5x + 3) (x + 1)

(bii) Hence find all the factors of 583.

How to do (bii)? Show your workings clearly and explain. Thank you.

Use the "tree method" .

Since 11 and 53 are prime numbers, that is it.

This method works best if you had a number with many factors - like 300 (see below)

583 is 5*10²+8*10+3.
Using the factorization from(bi), with x replaced by 10, we get
583 = (5*10+3)(10+1) = 53*11.
