Well here's how I would like to see it reinstated- use the illegal immigrants and then after they serve for their crime send them home! No Americans need to be put into this situation ever again and for what!

I hope we never have to draft anybody to serve their country. I'd like to think Americans will always stand up to serve our wonderful free country. But, if the time comes that we have nobody left to serve it might be something that must happen.

As for the year, who knows.

Amount of people...there usually isn't a limit.

Age...18-35.

Lets hope this never happens again.

If we ever went to war with the rising superpower China and possibly Russia, then the draft would definently have to be reinstated. We are already on very shakey grounds with both Nation's.

No. It isn't needed. All branches are meeting their enlistment and retention goals. We no longer fight wars with massed troops, assisted by armored and aerial support marching to contact against massed troops on the other side. The war we are in at present will continue to involve small troops units going into an area, kicking in the door and shooting people in the head.

Personally i think this country needs to do something to boost patriotism..many many other countries require some sort of military service for every man , im not sure about women.. i dont think it would be such a bad idea to expect citizens of this country to serve in some manner or other, not necessarily combat, but something to help out...civic duty or something..

It probably will be at some point in the future.
It just stands to reason.
A large number of young people are starting to believe that they are entitled to the lifestyle of their choosing. It's not really surprising as many of their parents don't behave like adults either.
At some point, they are going to have to start earning it.

no. there is no logical reason for it. with todays technology, ground warfare is obsolete. the only reason for it, is money for the government , which i hope someday people realize this.
