Also do you think the yankees will celebrate twice or just one . I mean when they celebrate when they get in the playoffs and maybe if they get the AL East . Would they Celebrate twice or just once

As of 9/21/07 any combination of 5 Yankee wins or 5 Tiger loses puts our Yankees in the playoffs.

The Yankees magic number to win the division is 11. This is how you figure it out.
Right now, Boston is 90-63. The most wins they can wind up with is 99 if they win out.
The Yankees record is 88-64.
To calculate the magic number you subtract the number of wins needed to guarantee a championship from the number of wins the team has.
The Yankees need 99 wins to guarantee a division title [they only have to tie Boston and theen they win based on a better record in head to head games with Boston. Thus, the Yankees need 11 victories to guarantee a tie with Boston and thus a division title.
Of course, the Yankees cannot win 11 more games, because they only have 10 left. But the magic number is the combination of Yankee wins and Boston loses. So even if the Yankees win all the rest of their games, Boston has to lose at least one for the Yankees to win the title.
If Boston goes 5-4, the Yankees need to go 7-4 to win.

I think the magic number for the wild card was 9 on Monday. They have to capture first place before any magic number exists.Thye'll celebrate no matter how many times is will be necessary. But now that first place is in reach, they may wait until the end of the season.

That is a good question and everything but we really have no say in it. If they want it bad enough it is within their reach. The only thing that we can do right now is sit back and wait. Yankee Fans you had better say your prayers for the next couple weeks cause if we come together the YANKEES can do it.

the yankees are beastly they'll be celebrating 4 times, one for division, 3 for playoff rounds, and they don't have a magic #, because they are not in 1st. But they are the best.
