I've read the book that the movie was based on, and it's clear that Jessica Tandy's character is only the sister-in-law of the girl the story is about. The movie never really explains that.

Ha, ha. No, I doubt I will FedEx you fried green tomatoes. Anyway, I don't really cry, but I love the movie to death!!! I saw it for the first time just the other day and it is on my favorite movie list for sure now.

They never come right out and say it, but I've always believed that she is. I think she's the one that leaves the jar of honey on Ruth's grave at the end of the movie.

The book clearly states that it is not.. (if anyone read it all the way through.. in the end they meet idgie selling honey at a roadside stand.. she never introduces herself, but they describe her perfectly)
