I am doing a report for school and I need to examine a movie that depicts a disable character. I need to argue whether the movie that I pick perpetuates or challenges stereotypes of the disabled. Looking for movies that came out about 10 years ago. Also, would the butterfly effect be a good movie for this?

Physically:
~Unbreakable
~Remember the Titans (a character becomes disabled in the movie)
~Wild Hearts Can't be Broken (the main character goes blind in an accident)
~Scent of a Woman
~Misery
~X-Men
~Friday the 13th part 2
~Heidi (the edition with Shirley Temple)
~Regarding Henry
~The Mighty
~Happiness is Loving Your Teacher
~The Bone Collector

Mentally Disabled:
~Radio
~Door to Door
~Forrest Gump
~The Green Mile
~As Good As It Gets
~I Am Sam
~There's Something About Mary
~What's Eating Gilbert Grape?
~Rainman

Since the main character has a period where he's an amputee, I think that The Butterfly Effect could be used in your report. Good luck!

Rainman is an AMAZING movie about a guy with autism (I think thats what he had, I saw it a few years ago).

Also, there was a movie with Robin Williams called Awakenings about people with a psychological disorder that made them like statues. Its a really cool movie too.

Ice Castles, Quite a bit more than ten years old, but it is an awesome movie about a blind figure skater.
Also for true movies try
