When people come over I don't want them to fee like they're walking into my bedroom...do you know what I mean? I'm not huge on decorating nor do I have much money to spend on space saving ideas (I am in a studio apartment after all), so any advice?

In looking at the layout and assuming the entry passes the bath and moves into the kitchen I suggest the BEDROOM area should be left of the kitchen area, allowing that Living/entertaining have direct access to the kitchen/pantry bath, and your sleep area, off to the left, can be draped/screened off and not be seen by guests.

You can separate and define the two areas with folding screen, etc. You might also consider that IF you choose a sofa/loveseat for the entertain/living area it might be a sleeper. You can look into Day Beds for your more private sleep area.

13 x 15 isn't huge; but you may not spend huge amounts of time in the apt. anyway.

Determine IF you choose to separate/ divide the area what space you rather have as the larger. Actually if you're OK with a DECENT sofa bed, you might not need to strictly create a tiny, private sleep area; AND at night, when alone or not...Open the entire space, just to have a sense of not being confined.

Certainly I get it with regard to budget. I spent 6 years in University paying my way in a 400 sq. ft. apt, and I was fine in my Minimalist space. Most important for you is Comfort, work space, and room for what method you choose to sleep/ entertain/ have a sanctuary that's personal to you.

The layout is actually pretty decent; just determine whether or not you want to divide the 13x15 and push everything to the perimeter walls.

#1 Minimize the junk in your apt.! Do not have lots of crap laying around.

#2 If you have a twin bed run it sideways along a wall. Make your bed with your pillows along the wall. Get a couple throw pillows to accent. Do not use white pillow cases. Use a color that will match the rest of the room. Try to use a solid color comforter on the bed. Try to shorten your bed frame if you can. You should make the bed just a little taller than a couch. This will make it look less like a bedroom and more like a futon in your livingroom which is a common thing.

#3 Always make the bed! :)

I would help more but I do not know what the demensions and furniture you have are.

U need to be very defined about the spaces. The furniture for the living room needs to be clearly kept seperate from your sleeping area. Communicate the couch and whatever other living room furniture together by tossing a rug in the middle of it all which matches the decor.
Keep your bed away and out of your living room space and make it obvious thats where you sleep.
Its hard to explain without seeing your studio lay out.
