It's fashionable, just like disagreeing with the administration is suddenly fashionable.
Time will tell who really cares-when Hollywood has found a new cause, those who truly DO care about the environment will continue working to save it, just as they always have.

It's been a trend all along. A good one, but used by many for profit, i.e. Hollywood, business concerns and the mass media to name a few.
Living as green as you can is probably a good thing. It becomes a problem when preached hysterically and without regard to the economies or practicalities involved.
Most likely when the next "big" thing happens along, the green fad will cool off in the news, movies and classrooms.

It's a trend, but not a new one. It started popping up in the '70's (Anyone remember the commercial with the indian crying about all the trash on the roads?).
This is just round 2...in 10 years, it'll be a footnote again.

BDzot is only partially right. This current green trend is actually round three, not round two. The first wave of eco-politics began in the 1970's, and the second one began in the 1990's. The problem with eco-politics, is that much of it actually makes things worse.

It is a buzz word and honestly I believe a fad. Once the facts on global warming are really discussed and how mans impact is nominal not major - the fad will die off.
