I'm not lazy, just scared of getting cut by the blades and it doesn't have a "wash" or "clean" button like other blenders. I put a drop of soap inside with some water and blend it but it doesnt clean it very well so I always end up doing it by hand. Here is a pic of the model I have, it is hamilton beach 10 speed blender...

So, can I put it through the dish washer? I don't have the box or any instruction manuals so I'm really not sure, does anyone else know?

No you cannot put your blender in the dishwasher. Motors do not like water, no more than your cell phone does. Once water gets in there, it can do all sorts of damage. One good rule of thumb is to look for a label on the product (any electrical or mechanical product) that says "Dishwasher Safe". If you can't find one, simply use a damp rag to clean the unit. If it's crudded up, try a little water and vinegar on the rag and wipe the piece down. I have the same unit, and the glass (or plastic, depending on model #) easily comes off by twisting the container to your left. You may then screw off the blades from underneath the glass or plastic container. You'll find that the blades come off easily without any possible harm to you, and there will also be a rubber gasket. Don't put the gasket in the dishwasher, just rinse it. You can put the glass container on the bottom rack of the dishwasher. If you have a plastic container, the plastic would fare better with handwashing. The blades can be put in the top of the dishwasher as well. Hope that helped!

I have always put my blender in the dishwasher- just not the base part, where the electrical parts are!

most blenders have all removable parts, including the section that holds the blades (i thought mine was not removable and only discovered recently that it all comes apart)

twist it in all directions (from the bottom) and see how it goes (not inside with the blades)

As long as no electrical parts get wet I think it would be fine. However you may risk having the blades rust from the dish washing detergent.:)
