I was born in California and live in Texas now, and I have since 1982. All places have their own character and charm, but, Ranz, did you know that Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio are all in the top ten largest cities in the U.S.? We are not as desolate as you are implying. There are many areas of Texas that are very urban. Once again, a stereotype that doesn't hold water.
I personally like living where I live, in Houston, the fourth largest city in the U.S. Also, Austin is one of the top ten cities to live in in the U.S. In fact, I think it may have ranked No. 1 this year. Our housing prices are low, and it is affordable to live here. Additionally, we are one of the few states with no state income tax. So, when people say bad things about Texas, just ignore them while you keep your hard earned money in your pocket and we will continue to play golf in the winter while people up north are freezing their butts off indoors.

I wouldn't even rank Texas as high as calling it the arm pit of the United States - it is the asshole of the United States. Lesstalk's take on Harris County (Houston) is right on to me. I experienced that as a white victim in Texas. Corrupt, ignorant cops with a corrupt system. Land may be cheap, but I'd rather live in a home half the size and on half the acreage and be happy and safer from such corruption.
There are may wonderful states to live in. I have lived in a few. Texas is the worst. Explore other states and see for yourself. You are young and can form your own opinion; however, learning from others opinions might spare you the angst of having to continue experiencing the torture of Texas.
Texas has poorly educated people in authority. Texas is an unworldly state. Texas citizens are brainwashed into believing they are the best - pride gets people every time. Trade that pride in Texas for some good old fashioned reality - there is another world outside Texas and it is beautiful!

sure i be conscious of Texas is warm in the process the summer time months, and it has illegals from Mexico. yet keep in mind, what if Japan or eire,or Italy improve into bordered on the U. S.? do no longer you think of individuals of that subculture's descent could be getting some crap too? Texas has a different background like no different American state. we are the only state that improve into an self sufficient u . s . a . (The Republic of Texas) at one time(1836 - 1845). We have been admitted to the Union under the assure that shall we revert to being an self sufficient u . s . a . by ability of two/3 vote from the TEXAS legislature. Texas has been an element of many 2d in background and had well-liked human beings come from Texas and to Texas including chief Quannah Parker,Dwight D. Eisenhower,Admiral Chester Nimitz,Sam Rayburn, Sam Houston just to call some.

I think Ranz was talking in terms of quality not quantity. Further more Lydia, Texas is within the top 5 states of home foreclosures so your no state income tax doesn't mean jack. You are pretty low on list when it comes to equal rights and in Harris county alone (Houston area) the majority of your minority areas has complaints against racism, these charges also include the police force and sheriffs departments.
In addition, name some states that has more child and/or mentally retarded death penalties? Name how many pedophiles have been arrested within the past few years alone? Name how many law enforcement personnel has been arrested themselves, oh yeah, including forensic personnel that sabotaged crime scene evidence to make it seem minorities committed crimes that they haven't (just in Houston alone)? Should I go on?
To all of you that has posted previously and to the ones that may in the future that claim Texas is oh so glorious. If you really think people moved here because is so 'nice' in Texas rather than the land being so cheap then wait until Bush (a Texan, of course) is out of office and the economy starts getting better. You will most likely see people moving in flocks to somewhere else. I'm not saying Texas is bad, but its not as great as you seem to portray it to be.
Oh btw, you can mark me down all you want. I prefer truth over a bunch of country BS or internet mark downs anyday.

If you lived somewhere else (anywhere not as desolate) other than Texas and then moved there, you'd know why. I wouldn't expect you to understand if you grew up there.
As you can see, the majority of people that don't like Texas aren't from there. So look at it that way.
Maybe ask yourself why do you like it so much and do some research on your state. There a lot of things that aren't so great about it. Of course every state has its ups and downs but Cowboys and Texas (the south/country in general) have a bad history and a bad reputation to a lot of people.
I'm not saying that being a cowboy is bad, but when you wear that Cowboy hat with your snake-skinned boots, you attach an bad image to a lot of people's minds.
