I actually had a green anole do that exact very same thing. And at first, I was as stumped as you. Then, after taking the poor thing to the vet, I found out that it is caused by age, and by low calcium levels. You'll also end up noticing that the lizard will not be as active as well. It's part of it. The BEST thing you can do for that lizard is get some calicum on those crickets, and even hand feed him if he can't eat them himself. Mine got so bad, he couldn't even eat the crickets. He did end up dying, because by the time we got him to the vet, it was too late. Just make sure he eats and drinks water, and if possible, take him to a vet. Best prevention is making sure all your lizards eat, and that they have enough calicum and lighting. :)

It's a bacterial infection, and is usually caused by poor husbandry. Something isn't right in the care...could be wrong lighting for the species, wrong heat temps (too hot or too cold), dirty cage, poor diet, wrong humidity, etc. Really research the species you have and find out how to take proper care of it. Get the lizard to a good reptile vet for the right antibiotics and treatment. It is serious and possibly life-threatening.
